I have ummed and ahhed about putting a site like this together for years. As with all good but largely unoriginal ideas, you need a concrete impetus to make them happen.

In our case, the motivation has been provided by the imminence of three weeks wild camping in Scotland. As this will no doubt prove to be one of those trips that you return from needing another holiday, I have decided to write about it.

This is partly to provide an outlet for the frustrations that will build up after three weeks stuck in a tent in the rain but also because there is not much practical information on the subject.

In the long term, I would like this site to become a thriving ecosystem of all things Madeye. However, I will be more than happy if it just proves to be a useful reference for wild camping trips to Scotland and elsewhere.
